Ealing Green College celebrated the last day of June with a jam-packed jamboree, including the Creative Media and Art and Design end-of-year shows, as well as the last Open Day for the year. Films ranging from documentaries to dramas werere featured at the Creative Media Showcase, with themes including a personal account from a woman transitioning to a man, the league-topping Ealing Green Inclusive Football team, the skills crisis and women working in the construction industry, and a crime thriller.
Gareth McLennan, Head of Curriculum – IT, Digital and Creative said: “It was fantastic to be able to showcase our learners’ work again in the End of Year Exhibition, having not been able to do so in the last 2 years, and to celebrate their talent, creativity and success with so many family and friends. As ever, the range and quality of work produced and exhibited this year was amazing, reflecting the many different interests and approaches of our learners, and the stimulating assignment briefs devised by the teaching teams. Congratulations to all our learners on their great creative work – they are all a credit to our department!”
Hugely diverse work was also on show at the Art and Design showcase from fashion to filmmaking and digital design to fine art and sculpture.




Sakina Bean’s (Art and Design Level 2) 3-D painting is an intricate work showing representations of a whale swimming in a forest and a female figure lying on the ground. The painting, inspired by the theme ‘journey’ was chosen for the poster to promote the exhibition.
Malachi John, who has completed Step Up to Art and Design will progress to Art and Design Level 1 in September. Malachi has just won second place in the Elephant LGBTQ+&Inclusion Art Competition celebrating Pride Month. Malachi said of his award: “I was shocked and really pleased at the same time to find out my artwork was valued and to receive the acknowledgement.”
Elyana Guler began college life on the Level 2 Art and Design course and will move to her second year of the Digital Design Level 3 course in September. A writer as well as an artist, she has just won London Metropolitan University’s #BigWritingChallenge, sponsored by Orion Books.
Tyzja-Topaz Dewar who has now completed Level 2 Art and Design, specialising in media and performance art, will start a Level 3 Art and Design diploma in September. She made a deeply moving film about her journey with epilepsy for the show, told through expressive dance.




Nilkanth Kalan is pictured with his work showing a cityscape, packaging for Kew Gardens, an eye depicting the war in Ukraine, and an image of Brexit. The next destination for Nilkanth is university at either UAL or Richmond University to study advertising.
Geneva Beaton will progress to the final year of her level 3 course in September and once she completes her studies, plans to get a creative apprenticeship. Her painting is about growth and decay and changing from young to old.
Seventeen-year-old Emma Boyadjan will also move up to year 2 of her Level 3 course and is not yet sure what she will do after that.
Alex Mangru has just finished his Step Up to Art course and will progress to Level 1. Alex describes his artwork in the show: “The images are all of me through a character I created called ‘The Reaper’. He, Reaper, is on a journey, which is very hard at the beginning, but he comes through at the end to find success.”




Level 1 student, Om Majithia created a huge transformer-style robot and a gladiator’s helmet for his exhibition pieces.
The helmet is a working mask, which means you can place it over the whole of your head and see out of the eyes. It also has a secret compartment hidden in the crest. Om plans to go to university and his passion is to make props for film and TV.
Hassan Shamsi is 17 and just completed Art and Design Level 2. Next year he plans to switch paths and study Sports Coaching Level 3 at Hammersmith & Fulham College.
Jade and Truleigh Broadie are both very creative sisters studying the two-year Digital Art Level 3 course. After their second year, they hope to find creative apprenticeships and are particularly interested in advertising careers.
