Inclusive Learning Transition Fair 2023

91ɬ��’s Inclusive Learning Transition Fair, ‘Moving On’ launched on Friday 1 December 2023, focused on the needs of students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Assistant Principal Charles Nelson welcomed over 90 people to the lively information event. A series of inclusive and foundation learning teachers described the pathways and options available. Eleven learning disability organisations took part, and students, parents and carers were able to talk directly to training providers and employers.

Aimed at students approaching 25, Charles told the gathering: “We’re here today to discuss the next steps in supporting our young adults with SEND through their transition process, ensuring a smooth and successful journey into the next phase of their lives.”

A parent at the fair described the event as “very helpful”. She said: “Now I know about the options. It’s such a good thing to be here.”

By encouraging networking, the fair, which was organised by Inclusive Learning colleagues Leonie Reece, Susana Cortez and Lesly Corzo, also helped to strengthen and empower our local SEND community in navigating challenges they may experience.

Susana said: “‘Moving On’ was a great opportunity to have parents, local authorities and other stakeholders together.”

Leonie added: “It was an absolute pleasure to organise this fair and see so many parents and students together.”

Agustina Ghibaudi, who works for the Family Information Service at Hammersmith & Fulham council said: “The fair today has been fantastic. It was nice to talk directly to parents about our SEND website to help us make it more accessible and to increase awareness about it too.”

The organisations participating in the information fair included Green Corridor, Action on Disability, Impact Theatre, London Borough Hammersmith & Fulham, Mencap, Brent Works, College of North West London, Shaw Trust, the Inclusion Project, and most importantly the students and their parents and carers.

91ɬ�� will be hosting the West London Supported Internship Fair at our Hammersmith & Fulham College on Wednesday, 28 February 2024, 10am to 4pm in partnership with West London Alliance.
